Description of Change: The length of the track shoe bolt is increased. The longer bolt provides a greater clamping force. The longer bolt also prevents the bolt from loosening. The reliability of the bolted joint is increased. The new track bolt should be used to replace the existing track bolt on machines that are equipped with 14 mm (0.55 inch) thick track shoes to 17.5 mm (0.7 inch) thick track shoes.

Adaptable To: The new 301-2299 Track Bolt replaces the former 150-4741 Track Bolt in the nonserviceable track groups. Refer to Table 1 for the effectivity of the new track bolt.

Procedure for Tightening Track Bolts

Follow the procedure that is outlined below in order to ensure that the track bolt is properly tightened.

  1. Remove all paint, rust, scale, and debris from the mating faces of the track shoe and the track link assembly.

  1. Lubricate the threads and the washer face of the track bolt with 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound or 2P-2506 Thread Lubricant .

  1. Tighten the track bolt (1) to a torque of 500 ± 70 N·m (370 ± 50 lb ft) plus an additional 120 degrees.
