If the correct adjustment is not maintained on the cable assembly that is attached to the front window, damage could be caused to the spring or to the cable in the device. The cable may tangle and this could cause the cable to break. These failures may cause sticking or unexpectedly closing of the front window.

If the front window assembly, the roller, or the glass is being replaced, the existing 156-6554 Cable As must be disengaged by using the proper procedure. The cable may tangle or the cable could break if you do not follow the proper procedure.

Refer to the following procedure to properly adjust the cable assembly when you are replacing the front window assembly, the roller, or the glass.

Procedure to Properly Disengage the Cable Assembly

  1. Close the front window and locate the correct position with the auto-lock latch in the locked position.

    (5) Set screw (Lock position)

  1. Remove set screw (free position) (4). Tighten the existing set screw (lock position) (5) in order to prevent the cable from suddenly winding into cable assembly (3). Refer to Illustration 3 and Illustration 4.

  1. After confirming that the cable is not winding into the cable assembly, proceed to remove the cable from the window.
