A New Stick Cylinder Group is Now Used on Certain 568 Forestry Excavators {5458} Caterpillar

Description Of Change: A new stick cylinder group is now used on certain 568 Forestry Excavators. The new stick cylinder incorporates an integrated retraction snubber that improves snubbing performance and durability.

Adaptable To: Refer to table 1 for the new stick cylinder and hose assembly parts that replace the former stick cylinder and hose assembly. Refer to Table 2 for the effectivity and adaptability of the machines with the improvements that are listed above.

Rework Procedure

Replace the existing 316-6243 Stick Cylinder Gp with the new 480-6495 Stick Cylinder Gp. Also replace the existing 134-9511 Hose As with the new 499-1821 Hose As. Refer to UENR0109Disassembly and Assembly, "Stick Cylinder - Remove and Install" for additional information.

(A) Cut back to the radius

1. Modify the rib in the 380-3508 Guard As (located by the rod end tube assembly), by removing 10mm to 12mm of the guard rib. This modification is needed to prevent interference of the guard and the tube assembly, during operation. Refer to Illustration 1.

2. To fit the hydraulic tube assembly, install one 155-7864 Spacer between the tube clips and the clamp bracket using two 8T-4183 Bolts. Refer to Illustration 3.
