A New Service Meter Unit (SMU) Is Now Used On Certain 300.9D Mini Hydraulic Excavators {5258, 7451}

300.9D (S/N: LJ21-UP; LJM1-UP)

Description Of Change: The new service meter unit that is now used helps prevent the stoppage of recorded service hours.

Adaptable To: The new 458-6069 Service Meter Gp replaces the previous 373-9759 Service Meter Gp.

Table 1 contains the effective serial numbers for this change. Installation instructions for the new service meter group can be found below.

Installation Procedure

  1. Remove the two screws (1) from service meter group (2) shown in Illustration 1.

  2. Pull the SMU away from the front panel to access the wire connections.

  3. Disconnect the wires from the existing SMU.

  4. Connect the wires to the new SMU using Table 3 and Illustration 2.

    Note: Use 16 AWG wire to create a jumper to pick up voltage from the number 4 WH/GRN wire to operate the new SMU.

  5. Install the new service meter group (3) in the front panel using the previously removed two screws (2).
