336E Excavator and 336E MHPU Mobile Hydraulic Power Unit C9.3 Engine Supplement Turbocharger - Remove and Install Caterpillar

Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the exhaust elbow.
2. Drain the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

Note: Check hose (2) for wear or damage. Replace the hose, if necessary.

1. Disconnect hoses (1) , (2) , and (3) .

2. Disconnect hose (4) , hose (6) , and tube assembly (5) .

3. Remove locknuts (7) and turbocharger (8) . Discard locknuts (7) .

Installation Procedure

1. Install turbocharger (8) in the reverse order of removal.

   1. Apply Tooling (A) to new locknuts (7) . Tighten locknuts (7) to a torque of 70 ± 5 N·m (52 ± 4 lb ft).

   2. Apply clean engine oil in the oil inlet of the turbocharger after assembly or before installation. This action will provide lubrication during start-up and during storage.
