336E Excavator and 336E MHPU Mobile Hydraulic Power Unit C9.3 Engine Supplement Fuel Filter and Base - Remove and Install - Secondary Caterpillar

Removal Procedure

1. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position and turn the fuel supply to the OFF position.

2. Disconnect harness assemblies (1) and hose assemblies (4).

3. Use Tooling (A) to remove fuel filters (5).

4. Remove bolts (2) and filter base (3).

5. Remove fuel temperature sensor (6), fuel pressure sensor (7), and fuel pressure sensor (8).

6. If necessary, remove studs (9).

Installation Procedure

1. Install the fuel filter and base in the reverse order of removal.

   1. Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of stud (9). Apply Tooling (B) to a length of 12.6 mm (0.50 inch) on stud (9). Tighten stud (9) to a torque of 70 ± 15 N·m (52 ± 11 lb ft).

   2. Tighten fuel pressure sensors (7) and (8) to a torque of 10 ± 2 N·m (89 ± 18 lb in).

   3. Tighten fuel temperature sensor (6) to a torque of 20 ± 3 N·m (177 ± 27 lb in).

   4. Lubricate the seal and the bore of fuel filter (5) with lubricant that is being sealed. Tighten fuel filter (5) to a torque of 35 ± 3 N·m (26 ± 2 lb ft).
