Removal Procedure

  1. Open the hood of the machine.

    This view is from the bottom of the machine.

  1. Remove two bottom panels (1) in order to gain access to the refrigerant compressor.

    The counterweight is removed in this side view of the refrigerant compressor for photographic purposes.

  1. Loosen nut (3). Turn tension adjusting bolt (4) in order to loosen V-belt (2). Remove V-belt (2) from the pulleys.

    The counterweight is removed in this side view of the alternator for photographic purposes.

  1. Loosen mounting bolts (5) and (7) on the alternator. Turn tension adjusting bolt (6) in order to loosen tension on the two V-belts. Remove the two V-belts from the pulleys.

  1. Remove four bolts (8) and the upper fan guard in order to remove the V-belts.

  1. Remove the V-belts.

Installation Procedure

  1. Check the condition of the V-belts for wear or for damage. If any of the V-belts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

  1. Position the two V-belts on the alternator pulley, on the water pump pulley, and on the fan drive pulley. Use four bolts (8) to install the upper fan guard.

    The counterweight is removed in this side view of the alternator for photographic purposes.

  1. Adjust the tension of the V-belts with tension adjusting bolt (6). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7424, "V-Belts - Inspect/Adjust/Replace" for the adjustment procedure.

  1. When the correct belt tension is achieved, tighten mounting bolts (5) and (7) .

    The counterweight is removed in this side view of the refrigerant compressor for photographic purposes.

  1. Install V-belt (2) on the pulleys. Adjust the tension of V-belt (2) with tension adjusting bolt (4). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7424, "V-Belts - Inspect/Adjust/Replace" for the adjustment procedure.

    Note: After the belt tension is achieved, tighten nut (3) to a torque of 15 ± 3 N·m (11 ± 2 lb ft).

  1. Install two bottom panels (1) on the machine.

  1. Close the hood of the machine.
