315C Excavator Machine Systems Stick Bearings and Seals - Install Caterpillar

Installation Procedure

Note: Be sure that the pin bores in the stick are clean prior to installation of the bearings and lip seals.

1. Lower the temperature of the bearings for the pin joint for the boom. Install the bearings in the stick at the pin joint for the boom. Install the bearings in the pin bore until each bearing is 9.5 ± 0.8 mm (0.37 ± 0.03 inch) below the outside surface of the stick.

2. Lower the temperature of the bearings for the pin joint for the bucket. Install the bearings in the stick at the pin joint for the bucket. Install the bearings in the pin bore until each bearing is 7.5 ± 0.8 mm (0.30 ± 0.03 inch) below the outside surface of stick.

Note: Install lip seals with the sealing lip toward the outside of the pin bore. The sealing lip prevents dirt and debris from entering the pin bores.

3. Use Tooling (A) to install lip seals (2) in the stick at the pin joint for the boom. Install the lip seals until each lip seal makes contact with the bearing.

4. Use Tooling (A) to install the lip seals (1) in the stick at the pin joint for the bucket. Install the lip seals until each lip seal makes contact with the bearing.
