NOTICE |
---|
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "AVSpare Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on AVSpare products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Make sure that the mating surfaces of the upper structure and the undercarriage frame are thoroughly clean and free of dirt and debris.
- Install four suitable sized guide bolts (16) in the mounting bolt holes in the upper structure, as shown. Install the guide bolts 90 degrees from each other.

- Apply Tooling (C) to the mating surface of the swing gear. Apply Tooling (C) on the mating surface of the bearing of the undercarriage frame. Apply Tooling (D) in the hole for the locating dowel in the undercarriage frame.
- Use a lift truck to position undercarriage frame (15) under the upper structure. Block the undercarriage frame so that the undercarriage frame cannot move.
- Remove the pins from the tubes of Tooling (B). Use Tooling (B) to lower the upper structure in 13 mm (0.5 inch) increments. Align the guide bolts in the upper structure with the bolt holes in the undercarriage frame. Move the undercarriage frame in order to obtain the correct alignment.
NOTICE |
---|
Failure to properly assemble parts or failure to follow established procedures can lead to damage of the parts and assembly. To avoid damage to parts, always identify and mark the parts so that they can be installed in the same location. Ensure that gear surfaces align. Never force parts during assembly. |

- Make sure that the machined surface of the ring gear in the final drive is thoroughly clean, free of dirt and debris and dry. Make sure that the machined surface of cover (3) is thoroughly clean, free of dirt and debris and dry. Apply Tooling (C) around the machined surface of the ring gear. Put cover (3) in the cover's original position on the ring gear.
- Apply Tooling (E) on the threads of bolts (1) that hold cover (2) in position. Install bolts (1) and the washers that hold the cover. Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 29 ± 2 N·m (21 ± 1 lb ft).
- Fill each final drive with oil to the correct level. Fill the hydraulic oil tank with oil to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities".
End By: Install the bucket. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bucket - Install".
