315C Excavator Machine Systems Swing Drive - Install Caterpillar

Installation Procedure

1. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the swing drive housing and the main frame.

2. Apply Tooling (C) on the locating pin in the swing drive housing. Apply Tooling (C) in the pin bore in the main frame.

3. Apply Tooling (D) on the mating surfaces of the main frame and the swing drive.

Note: During installation, the locating pin for the swing drive can come out of the swing drive housing.

4. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to swing drive (3). The weight of swing drive (3) is approximately 115 kg (250 lb). Place swing drive (3) in the original position in the main frame. If the locating pin comes out of the swing drive housing, the locating pin can be reinstalled with a hammer after the swing drive is in place.

5. Apply Tooling (E) on the threads of bolts (1). Install bolts (1) that hold swing drive (3) in place. Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 530 ± 70 N·m (395 ± 50 lb ft).

6. Install corks (2) in the threaded holes in the swing drive housing.
