Note: Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and the seals for wear or for damage and replace the components, if necessary.

Note: The degree of difficulty is greatly reduced for the installation of the hydraulic hose assemblies if the engine is removed.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "AVSpare Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on AVSpare products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contamination of the hydraulic system with foreign material will reduce the service life of the hydraulic system components.

To prevent contaminants from entering the hydraulic system, always plug or cap the lines, fittings, or hoses as they are disconnected. Cover any disassembled components and clean them properly before assembly.

Clean the hydraulic system properly after any major component exchange or especially after a component failure, to remove any contamination.

This view is from the top of the main control valve.

  1. Connect all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies to the top of the main control valve.

Note: Carefully inspect the main control valve for any hydraulic hose assemblies, for any tube assemblies, or for any harness assemblies that still require installation to the main control valve.

  1. Remove Tooling (A) from the main control valve.

  1. Install high efficiency filters in place of the pilot filter, the case drain filter, and the return filter.

Note: High efficiency filters should not be run for more than 250 hours before you change back to the standard filters.

  1. Fill the hydraulic oil tank with oil to the proper level. The capacity of the hydraulic tank is approximately 105 L (27.7 US gal). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities". Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil - Check" for the procedure.

    NOTICE

When the main hydraulic pump has been serviced or the hydraulic oil has been replaced, the air in the hydraulic system must be purged. Do not start the engine until the main hydraulic pump has been filled with oil.

Operating the hydraulic pump without proper lubrication will damage the pump and other hydraulic components.

  1. When the hydraulic oil has been replaced, the air must be removed from the hydraulic oil system. To remove the air from the hydraulic oil system, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Air (Main Hydraulic Pump) - Purge".

  1. Install the cap to the hydraulic tank.

  1. Start the engine and check the operation of the auxiliary attachments. Check all the hose connections and all the tube connections on the main control valve for leaks.

  1. Obtain an S·O·S sample of the hydraulic oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Sampling Interval and Location of Sampling Valve" for the correct location.

  1. If the S·O·S sample exceeds ISO 18/15, flush the hydraulic system. Refer to Contamination Control Guideline, SEBF8447 for further information.
