315C Excavator Machine Systems Counterweight - Remove and Install Caterpillar

Removal Procedure

1. Start the machine, and place the work tool on the ground. Stop the engine.

2. Open the engine hood.

3. Remove caps (1) from the counterweight. Install Tooling (A) onto the counterweight. Attach a suitable lifting device onto Tooling (A). The counterweight weighs approximately 3017 kg (6651 lb).

4. Remove bolts (2) and the spacers that secure the counterweight to the frame of the machine. Remove the counterweight.

1. Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of bolts (2) and to the faces of the spacers.

2. Install Tooling (A) in the counterweight. Attach a suitable lifting device onto Tooling (A). The counterweight weighs approximately 3017 kg (6651 lb).

3. Position the counterweight on the frame of the machine.

4. Install bolts (2) and the spacers that secure the counterweight to the frame. Install caps (1) on the counterweight. Tighten caps (1) to a torque of 12 ± 4 N·m (106 ± 35 lb in).

5. Close the engine hood.
