C2.4 Tier 4 Final Engines for Caterpillar Built Machines Glow Plugs - Remove and Install Caterpillar

Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove valve mechanism cover.

1. Remove nuts (1) and bus bar (2).

2. Remove glow plugs (3).

Installation Procedure

1. Install glow plugs (3) in the reverse order of removal.

   Note: Ensure that the threads of the glow plugs are clean and free from damage. Replace any damaged glow plugs.

   1. Tighten glow plugs (3) to a torque of 15 N·m to 19 N·m (133 lb in to 168 lb in).

   2. Tighten nuts (1) to a torque of −.98 N·m to 1.7 N·m (9 lb in to 15 lb in).
