MP15, MP20, MP30 and MP40 Multi-Processors Hydraulic Rotator Cycle Time - Check Caterpillar

Hydraulic Rotator Cycle Time - Check
`

Operate the host machine at high idle during this check.

  1. Move the host machine and the work tool to a smooth level location.

  1. Conduct a visual inspection of all hoses, fittings, and components. If any leaks are observed or if any damage is observed, repair the problem before you perform this check.

  1. Start the host machine and run the host machine at high idle. Operate the implements until the hydraulic oil reaches normal operating temperature.

  1. Raise the work tool and position the work tool in a perpendicular position. Refer to Illustration 1.

  1. Note the starting position of the work tool. Rotate the work tool to the left for 1 minute. Record the number of rotations that are completed in that time.

  1. Note the starting position of the work tool. Rotate the work tool to the right for 1 minute. Record the number of rotations that are completed in that time.

  1. The work tool must complete 14 ± 3 revolutions per minute (rpm) in each direction. If the rpm is within the specification, the work tool is rotating properly. If the rpm is not within the specification, check the oil flow and the oil pressure of the host machine. Refer to the Service Manual, "Host Machine Pressure and Flow - Test". The oil flow to the rotator must be 80 ± 10 L/min (21.1 ± 2.6 US gpm). The oil pressure to the rotator must be 14000 ± 1000 kPa (2030 ± 145 psi).

  1. If an adjustment was made to the host machine, repeat the check. If an adjustment for the host machine was not necessary, proceed to the next step.

  1. If the rpm is not within the specification, check the oil flow of the hydraulic rotator. Refer to Service Manual, "Hydraulic Rotator Oil Flow - Test".
