Swing Speed

Introduction

Measuring the swing speed of the machine will determine if there is a need to check the swing motor.

Note: The engine speed and/or the machine configuration that is used during this test can affect the results of this test. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Engine Performance - Test (Engine Speed)" for the engine speed that was used for this test. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Operational Checks" for the machine configurations that were used for this test.

Note: The relief valve pressure settings must be set to the relief valve pressure specification before performing this operational check. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Specifications".

  1. Start the engine.

  2. Position the machine on level ground. Refer to Illustration 1.

  3. Increase the hydraulic oil temperature to 55° ± 5°C (131° ± 9°F).

  4. Position the stick in a vertical position.

  5. Position the boom swing in the center position.

  6. Fully extend the bucket cylinder.

  7. Place the machine in CRANE MODE.

  8. Move the swing joystick in each direction and measure the time that is required to complete three revolutions.

Note: Start the measurement after the machine has rotated one full revolution.

  9. Record the results in Table 1.

Test Procedure for Boom and Stick

Introduction

Note: The engine speed and/or the machine configuration that is used during this test can affect the results of this test. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Engine Performance - Test (Engine Speed)" for the engine speed that was used for this test. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Operational Checks" for the machine configurations that were used for this test.

Note: The relief valve pressure settings must be set to the relief valve pressure specification before performing this operational check. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Specifications".

Test Procedure

  8. Lift 1050 kg (2314.9 lb) object to 100% warning.

  9. Measure the boom cylinder from cylinder pin to cylinder pin.

  10. Measure the stick cylinder from cylinder pin to cylinder pin.

  11. Stop the engine.

  12. Leave the machine in this position for 5 minutes. Measure the length of the boom cylinder from cylinder pin to cylinder pin.

  13. Leave the machine in this position for 3 more minutes (a total of 5 minutes since step 11). Measure the length of the stick cylinder from cylinder pin to cylinder pin.
