  4. Optimize the yoke position on the thread, remove as much slack as possible. Turn the yoke until the clip can barely be inserted without having to move the levers.

Adjustment Procedure for the Parking Brake Handle

    (2) Release lever for the parking brake lock

  1. Place the parking brake in the DISENGAGED position. Depress the release lever (2) and push the parking brake lever (1) downward.

  2. Turn the parking brake handle clockwise to tighten the cable.

  3. Turn the handle until resistance is felt when engaging the parking brake.

  4. Test the adjustments made by following the procedure outlined in "Testing Procedure for the Parking Brake Control".

Testing Procedure for the Parking Brake Control

  1. Check the area around the machine. Make sure that the machine is clear of personnel and clear of obstacles.

  2. Fasten the seat belt before you test the brakes.

  3. Engage the parking brake. Pull the parking brake lever (1) upward to engage the parking brake.

  4. Start the engine. Raise the bucket slightly.

  5. Perform the parking brake test and adjust for machines that are equipped with a standard transmission.

    1. Place the transmission speed control lever in the FOURTH SPEED position.

      ------ WARNING! ------

If the machine begins to move, reduce the engine speed immediately and apply the service brake pedal.

    2. Place the transmission direction control lever in the FORWARD position. An audible alarm will sound and the alert indicator will light.

    3. Gradually increase the engine speed to high idle. The machine should not move.

Note: If the machine moves perform step 5d through 5h. If the machine does not move, proceed to step 6.

    4. Place the transmission direction control lever in the NEUTRAL position.

    5. Lower the bucket to the ground and stop the engine.

    6. Place the parking brake in the DISENGAGED position.

    7. Turn the fine adjustment knob clockwise for one to two turns.

    8. Repeat step 3 through 5.

  6. Reduce the engine speed. Move the transmission to NEUTRAL. Lower the bucket to the ground. Stop the engine.
