Travel Drive

The travel drive reduces the rotating speed of the travel motor. The output shaft of the travel motor is splined to the travel motor input shaft (16) of the travel drive.

The travel drive consists of the following two groups:

  • Two-stage planetary gear reduction

The first stage contains the following components: travel drive sun gear and shaft (19), first stage planetary gears (7), first stage carrier (8) and travel drive gear (25) .

The second stage contains the following components: second stage sun gear (26), second stage planetary gear (9), second stage carrier (10) and travel drive gear (25) .

  • Output group

The rotation of travel drive hub and sprocket housing (29) generates output torque that drives the track. The housing (29), travel drive gear (25) and cover (6) are held together with bolts. This assembly is supported with bearings (28) and turns with travel drive gear (25) .

The planet reduction gears reduce the travel speed. The speed is reduced in a ratio of sun gear tooth numbers to ring gear tooth numbers.

Note: Refer to the Hydraulic System System Operation, "Planetary Gear Operation (Final Drive)" for information on the operation of the planetary gear.
