Fuel Tank
Flush
The fuel tank is mounted on the upper carriage, directly behind the left side of the operator's cab.
Close the fuel shutoff valves (Fig. 544). Open tank filler cap (on top of the fuel tank) and the drain valve (Fig. 545).
The drained fuel can be reused after cleaning the tank, but it should be passed through a filter.
Flush the tank with 5 to 10 liter (1 to 2 gallon) clean fuel and drain again. Close drain valve (Fig. 545). Filter drained fuel and refill. Open the fuel shutoff valves (Fig. 544).
Hydraulic Tank
Change Hydraulic Oil

Hot oil can cause burns. At operating temperature, the hydraulic tank is hot and under pressure. Remove the fill cap only when the engine is stopped, and the cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure. |

The hydraulic fluid tank is located at the right rear side of the upper carriage. An oil change should only be undertaken with warm hydraulic fluid.
Retract the rods of the main boom and the bucket cylinder (attachment extended), lower the lift cylinders (retract) so that the attachment rests on the ground. The machine itself should stand on a level surface. Stop the engine.
Remove the drain hose from the tool box.
Connect the hose to the nose of the drain valve on the oil reservoir (drain valve above cut-out in lower side upper carriage, Fig. 546). Open drain valve and allow the oil to run into containers. Close drain valve and remove hose.
Loosen drain plug on the hydraulic pump (Fig. 547), allow oil to drain and retighten drain plug.
Fill with new hydraulic fluid only, through the return flow filter (4, Fig. 538). See "Refill Capacities."
Start the engine and operate all hydraulic functions until all cylinders are filled with oil. Check oil level. (See "Every 10 Service Hours or Daily".)

Place machine on level ground.
Remove drain plug (2, Fig. 530) and level plug (2, Fig. 696) and oil fill breather filter and allow oil to drain.
If necessary, fit the plugs with new ring seals.
Install drain plug (2, Fig. 530) and fill with oil to the edge of the level hole (2, Fig. 696). Install plugs (1 and 2, Fig. 696). Check for leaks.
