Engine Crankcase Oil

Change Oil and Filter

------ WARNING! ------

Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

------WARNING!--------

The machine must be level. The equipment must be lowered. The hydraulic and antitravel lock must be engaged. The engine must be stopped.

1. Remove the crankcase drain plug from under the rear of the upper structure.

2. Open the rear access doors.

3. Remove the crankcase oil filter and discard it.

4. Clean the filter mounting surface of the filter base. Make sure all of the old filter seal is removed.

5. Coat the seal of a new filter with clean engine oil.
6. Install the new filter by hand. When the seal contacts the base, tighten an additional 3/4 turn.

NOTICE

Do not overtighten the filter.

Use the rotation index marks on the filter as a guide for proper tightening.

7. Clean and install the drain plug.

8. Remove the fill plug. Fill the crankcase with oil. See "Refill Capacities." Clean and install the fill plug.

Start and operate the engine. Check for leaks. Stop the engine. Maintain the oil level between the ADD and FULL marks on the dipstick.

Belts - Alternator, Fan and Air Conditioner (If Equipped)

Inspect - Adjust

Remove the left rear upper panel. Inspect the condition of the belts. Replace belts as a set if a belt is cracked or frayed.

Correct adjustment allows 14 to 20 mm (9/16 to 13/16 inch) deflection midway between pulleys.

1. To Adjust: Loosen the alternator mounting bolts.

2. Move the alternator to loosen or tighten the belts.
3. Tighten the mounting bolts.
4. Reinspect the adjustment.

Fan Bearings - Lubricate 1 Fitting

Lubricate 1 fitting on the fan drive bracket.

Coolant Conditioner

Add Conditioner

------ WARNING! ------

At operating temperature, engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury.

Check the coolant level ONLY when the engine is stopped and the radiator cap is cool enough to touch with your hand.

Remove the radiator cap slowly to relieve pressure.

Cooling System Conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.

------WARNING!--------

NOTICE

All water is corrosive at engine operating temperature. Use AVSpare Cooling System Conditioner liquid, or equivalent, to treat either plain water or ethylene glycol solution.

Do not use AVSpare Cooling System Conditioner if Dowtherm 209 Full-Fill coolant is used. Follow the recommendations furnished with the Dowtherm 209 Full-Fill coolant.

1. Remove the radiator cap slowly to relieve pressure.
2. Add .47 liter (1/2 qt.) of conditioner to the coolant. It may be necessary to drain a small amount of coolant to allow for conditioner additions.
3. Replace the radiator cap if the seal is damaged. Install the cap.

Final Drives

Check the Oil Level

------ WARNING! ------

Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

------WARNING!--------

Final drive oil plugs are located on the back side of the roller frames.

Remove the oil fill plug from each final drive. Maintain the oil level in each final drive to the bottom of the plug opening. Clean and install the plugs.

Swing Drive

Check the Oil Level

------ WARNING! ------

Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

------WARNING!--------

Plug is located behind boom.

1. Remove the oil fill plug.
2. Maintain the oil level to the bottom of the plug opening.
3. Clean and install the plug.
