Gauges
Hydraulic Oil Pilot Pressure (1.) - 30 to 33 bar (2942 to 3231 kPa or 427 to 469 psi) must be indicated with engine between half and full rpm for adequate pressure.
Service Hour Meter (2.) - Indicates the total number of hours the engine has operated. Use it to determine service intervals.
Fuel Level (3.) - Indicates the amount of diesel fuel in the fuel tank.
Engine Oil and Coolant Temperature (4.) - Indicator should be in the normal (lower) range when the engine is warm and operating.
Stop the engine immediately if the indicator rises above the normal range.
Deutz Engine - Air Cooled - Fault alarm will also sound when cooling air blower fan belt is loose or broken. Check the oil level also.
Perkins Engine - Water Cooled - Check fan belt for the water pump. Check the oil level. Also check for a dirty air filter, faulty thermostat, a plugged radiator or low coolant level.
Have the necessary repairs made before starting again.
Indicator Lights
Alternator (1.) - This light monitors the charging system. It should light up when the engine OFF-ON-START key is turned to ON. If the light does not go off while the engine is running, the batteries are not being charged. The machine can be operated until repairs can be made. However, if the electrical accessories are used, the batteries will discharge rapidly.
Engine Oil Pressure (2.) - When this light comes ON with the engine running, STOP the engine. It indicates an oil pump failure, loss of oil or low oil. Have the necessary repairs made before starting again.
Starting Aid Heat-Start (If Equipped with Deutz Engine) (3.) - This indicator light will come on if the engine is ready for starting, after operating heat-start system.
Perkins Engine - No light for this engine. See "Starting Aid-Heat-Start" for further information.
4. Hydraulic Oil Temperature - Light comes on when oil temperature reaches 93°C (200°F). Run engine at LOW IDLE. Check for faulty oil cooler, dirt on outside of oil cooler, oil level, etc.
Engine OFF-ON-START Switch
OFF (1.) - To insert or remove the key, the key must be in this position.
Deutz Engine - The governor control lever must be used to stop the engine. See "Governor Control Lever."
Perkins Engine Only (1.) - Turn the key to OFF to stop the engine.
ON (2.) - Key will return to this position after releasing from HEAT-START or START position. Certain indicator lights will remaind on when the key is in this position with the engine stopped, until key is turned to OFF.
STARTING AID-HEAT-START (If Equipped) (3.) - Turn to this position to allow the heat system to heat up.
Deutz Engine - The engine is ready to start. After the indicator light (5) comes on.
Perkins Engine - The engine is ready to start approximately 20 seconds after turning to HEAT-START. This engine is not equipped with an indicator light.
START (4.) - Turn the key to this position to start the engine. Release the key as soon as the engine starts.
Front Working Lights (1.) - Push the switch to the right to turn the lights on. Push the switch to the left to turn the lights off.
Rear Working Lights (2.) - Push the switch to the right to turn the lights on. Push the switch to the left to turn the lights off.
Front Headlights (3.) - Push the switch to the right to turn the lights on. Push the switch to the left to turn the lights on.
Rotating Beacon - If Equipped (3.) - Push the switch to the right to turn the light on. Push the switch to the left to turn the light off.
Dome Light
Dome Light - Move the switch to activate the dome light. Move back to turn off.
Windshield Wipers
Windshield Wipers - Push down to first click for low speed. Push down to the second click for high speed.
Windshield Wiper/Washer (If Equipped)
Windshield Washers - Push the switch down to activate the washer fluid. Push back after washing is completed.
Horn
Air Horn (If Equipped) - Push the switch to the right to activate the air horn. Release to turn off.
Lighter (If Equipped)
Lighter - Push the knob in to activate the lighter. Knob will move back out slightly, when ready to use. Pull out of the socket to use. Push partly in to reinsert into socket.
Sunscreen
- 1. Pull the screen down to shade out the sun.
- 2. Pull the lever down to retract sunscreen to holder.
Heating Controls
Fan Switch (1.) - Controls the different speeds of the blower fan. Turn the knob to the desired speed or to OFF.
Recirculated Air (2.) - Raise the lever all the way for 100% recirculated air.
Recirculated and Outside Air Mixture (3.) - Push the lever all the way down for 50% recirculated and 50% outside air.
Temperature Control (4.) - Pull the lever up for decreased heat. Push the lever down for increased heat.
The temperature can be varied by the position of the lever.
Defroster - Use the heating controls to get the desired temperature. Turn the rear air louvers (1) to control the amount of air flow coming out of the defroster (2) to clear the windshield.
Cab Door
Cab Door - Pull the door latch to open the door. Open the door all the way and it will latch to the side of the cab wall.
Use the front, back or side windows for an emergency exit.
Cab Door Release Lever - Pull the lever forward to unlatch the door from the catch.
Seat Adjustment

Seat adjustment should be checked at the beginning of each shift and when operators change. Always use the seat belt when operating machine. Adjust seat to allow full pedal travel with operator's back against seat back. |

- 1. Lift the lever to adjust seat forward or rearward.
- 2. Lift the two levers for seat height adjustment.
- 3. Lift the lever on right side of seat to adjust the backrest angle.
- 4. Turn the weight adjustment knob to the desired suspension.
Seat Belt

Always check the condition of the seat belt and mounting hardware before operating the machine. Replace the seat belt at least once every three years, regardless of appearance or use. A date label, to determine the age of the belt, is sewn onto each belt. |

Inspect for worn or frayed webbing.
Check for worn or damaged buckle or anticreep slide on the belt. Replace the belt, buckle or slides if they are worn or damaged.
Inspect the belt mounting hardware. Replace any damaged or worn hardware. Keep the mounting bolts tight.
If the bolt and nut that holds the two parts of the seat belt mounting hooks together are not correctly installed, the hooks can separate. This will allow the seat belt to separate from its mounting.
Inspect the hooks of each half of the belt to make certain the bolt and nut are correctly installed.
If the bolt and nut are not correctly installed, remove them. Install a new bolt and nut.
Adjust Seat Belt
Adjust both ends of the belt. The belt should be snug but comfortable.
To Lengthen the Belt
- 1. With the belt unfastened, move the anticreep slide toward the buckle.
- 2. To remove the slack in outer loop, rotate buckle to free the lock bar. This permits the belt to move through the buckle.
- 3. Pull on the buckle until the slack is removed from the outer belt loop.
To Shorten the Belt
With the belt fastened, pull on the outer loop to tighten the belt.
Readjust the belt if it does not fit snugly with the buckle in the center.
