Engine Fuel Filter

Replace

------ WARNING! ------

Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.

Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters.

------WARNING!--------

Unscrew the filter (2, Fig. 536) carefully, as fuel runs out of the filter. Remove any dirt from the filter base.

Slightly grease the rubber seal before reassembling the new filter and screw on by hand until the seal makes contact. Tighten the filter by one half turn. For filter cartridge bleeding and further details, refer to the operating instructions of the engine manufacturer.

Hydraulic Fluid Tank

Replace Filter Elements

------ WARNING! ------

Hot oil can cause burns.

At operating temperature, the hydraulic tank is hot and under pressure.

Remove the fill cap only when the engine is stopped, and the cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.

------WARNING!--------

Rest attachment on the ground. Stop engine. Clean area around the hydraulic reservoir cover (2, Fig. 538). Remove cover by loosening the bolts (3, Fig. 538).

Pull out the two filter bowls by their handles (1, Fig. 539). By pressing down and turning the handles, the filters can be dismantled, i.e., filter bowl (1, Fig. 540), handle including valve (2, Fig. 540) and the two filter elements (2 elements per filter bowl) (3, Fig. 540). It is therefore necessary to replace with four new filter elements (3, Fig. 540).

Reverse the sequence for reassembly. If necessary, replace the O-rings (4, Fig. 540) and the cover gasket (2, Fig. 539). The spacer bolts (3, Fig. 539), which should press the filter bowls slightly against the O-rings. Also check for correct adjustment.

Swing Gear Brake

Check Wear

Remove brake drum guard (1, Fig. 696) after slackening the fastening bolts.

Loosen the hexagon head bolt (1, Fig. 780) and remove the brake drum (2, Fig. 780).

Measure thickness of the brake lining (Fig. 781).

Brake lining must not be less than 3.5 mm (.14 inch). Consult your AVSpare dealer for replacement when lining is under 3.5 mm (.14 inch).
