Lubricate the fittings (7, Fig 574).
Swing Gear Teeth and Pinion
Coat gear with grease (1, Fig. 530).
Lubricate the eight fittings (4, Fig. 693, 695).
Change Oil and Filter
Change oil and filter for the first time at the Every 50 Service Hours interval and the normal change interval thereafter.
Lubricate two fittings (1, Fig. 585).
Lubricate two fittings (2, Fig. 585).
Oscillating Axle Pins
Lubricate 2 fittings (3, Fig. 585).
Undercarriage Stabilizers - Front and Rear
Lubricate twelve fittings (Fig. 586).
Universal Joints - Drive Shaft
Lubricate four fittings (1, Fig. 629).
Fuel Line Filter
Check and Clean
Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.
Turn the switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters.
Loosen knurled nut and empty glass bowl. Reassemble glass bowl (Fig. H532).
Check Electrolyte Level
Batteries give off flammable fumes that can explode.
Do not smoke when observing the battery electrolyte levels.
Electrolyte is an acid and can cause personal injury if it contacts skin or eyes.
Always wear protective glasses when working with batteries.
The batteries are at the left rear of the upper carriage and accessible through the engine side door.
Check that the electrolyte level is approximately 10 to 15 mm (.38 to .62 inch) above the upper plate edges. Use distilled water only. Clean terminals and coat with petroleum jelly (Fig. 533).
